You should exercise caution with what you consume right after getting fillings, depending on the kind of filling that was used. You are free to eat and drink right after your dentist places composite white fillings since they solidify in an instant when exposed to a blue light.

For a few days after getting a dental filling, it's best to avoid meals and liquids that are too hot or too cold. Also, during the next two weeks, you shouldn't eat anything that is sticky, hard, or chewy. Meat and other foods that need large bits and lots of chewing are probably not going to work. In order to keep infections at bay, it's best to stay away from meals that are quite acidic.

After the filling, you could feel some soreness or discomfort, but it should be minor to moderate. In most cases, you should feel better within 12 hours, and you may eat normally without worrying about any discomfort or tooth sensitivity. Any soreness or pain felt physically after getting a dental filling may be eased with over-the-counter pain relievers including ibuprofen or acetaminophen.
