Over the past several decades, the idea of immediately inserting a dental implant following tooth extraction in Toronto has been increasingly common. This method, called "immediate implant placement," has the benefit of reducing treatment duration while maintaining both hard and soft tissue characteristics. These advantages do, however, come with a number of dangers, including the possibility of implant instability and unexpected tissue repair.

A two-stage procedure was used initially waiting six to eight months following tooth extraction, followed by sterile implant implantation. This approach resulted in longer treatment times, more bone loss, and longer periods of edentulism, but it did enable time for bone repair.

On the other hand, as a more effective option, quick implant implantation was launched in the 1970s. Clinicians sought to minimize subsequent procedures and shorten the period of therapy by inserting the implant straight into a new extraction socket.
